Cardinals Set To Meet With Calais Campbell’s Agent This Week

Dan Graziano of ESPN is reporting that the Cardinals are scheduled to meet with Calais Campbell‘s agent this week at the Scouting Combine to determine what it would take to bring him back.

Earlier in the day, Cardinals HC Bruce Arians mentioned that they’ve prepared for the possibility of losing veteran DE Campbell in free agency by who they’ve taken in the last two drafts, per Josh Weinfuss.

However, it appears as though they would at least like to see what his asking price is before fully preparing to move in a different direction.

It’s not going to be easy for the Cardinals to keep Campbell, as he is in line to be one of the most sought after free agents in this year’s market.

Campbell, 30, is a former second-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2008. He played out the final year of his five-year, $55 million contract that included $17 million guaranteed and will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

In 2016, Campbell appeared in all 16 games for the Cardinals and recorded 53 tackles, eight sacks, an interception, three fumble recoveries with one being returned for a touchdown, two forced fumbles, six pass defenses and a safety. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 2 interior defensive lineman out of 127 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2017 Free Agents list.
