Cardinals Sign Former Chargers LB Donald Butler, Waive LB Quayshawn Nealy

The Arizona Cardinals announced that they’ve signed former Chargers LB Donald Butler to a contract on Wednesday and placed LB Quayshawn Nealy on waivers.

This is the first reported interest in Butler since he became available several months ago.

Arizona continues to take a look at some notable veterans, so it will be interesting to see how Butler looks this summer, as he could be an intriguing buy-low option for them.

Butler, 27, is a former third-round pick of the Chargers back in 2010. He was entering the third year of his seven-year, $51.8 million contract when he was released in a move that freed up $2,590,000 in available cap space for the Chargers.

In 2015, Butler appeared in all 16 games for the Chargers and recorded 43 tackles, a half sack, a forced fumble and a recovery.

We had him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
