Cardinals Sign GM Steve Keim To Extension Through 2022

Dan Graziano of ESPN reports that the Cardinals have signed GM Steve Keim to a contract extension through the 2022 season.

The Cardinals have already confirmed the news:

“Steve’s performance and accomplishments as Cardinals GM speak for themselves,” Cardinals president Michael Bidwill said in a statement. “His role in the team’s success over the last five seasons is undeniable. This new contract ensures that he will continue to shape our success going forward and we are thrilled about that.”

With the Cardinals hiring Steve Wilks as their new head coach, it makes sense to tie the two men together for the foreseeable future.

Keim began working for the Cardinals as a college scout back in 1999. Arizona promoted him to Director of College Scouting in 2006 and later elevated him to Director of Player Personnel in 2008.

After one year as the Cardinals’ VP of player personnel, Keim took over as the team’s GM for the 2013 season.

During his five years as the Cardinals’ GM, Keim has led the team to a record of 49-30-1, which includes two playoff appearances.
