Cardinals Sign OLB Jason Babin, Place DT Cory Redding On IR

The Arizona Cardinals announced Tuesday that they’ve signed veteran OLB  Jason Babin to a contract.

This comes just a day after the Cardinals tried out Babin and Matt Shaughnessy on Monday.

Babin, 35, signed a two-year, $3.25 million contract with the Jets back in July of 2013 and had his option picked up by the Jets last year. However, he wound up being among the team’s final roster cuts at the start of the season.

Baltimore signed Babin to a contract shortly after they lost OLB Terrell Suggs to season-ending Achilles injury.

This season, Babin has been active for just two games, but has yet to record a single statistic.

Redding, 35, signed a two-year, $6 million contract that included a $2 million signing bonus with the Cardinals close to a year ago. He’ll make a base salary of $1 million this season and another $3 million in 2016.

In 2015, Redding appeared in 12 games and recorded five tackles, an interception, two fumble recoveries with one being returned for a touchdown and two pass defenses for the Cardinals.
