Cardinals Sign Veteran LB Ernie Sims

The Cardinals announced the signing of veteran LB Ernie Sims on Tuesday.

Arizona actually brought Sims in for a workout last week, and the fact that ILB Daryl Washington is facing a possible year-long suspension, make this seem like a logical move.

Second-year LB Kevin Minter has already been calling the team’s defensive plays during OTAs. The Cardinals also added veteran ILB Larry Foote this offseason in attempt replace Karlos Dansby who signed with Cleveland.

Sims, 29, spent the past two years with the Cowboys, but hasn’t found any reported interest before this as an unrestricted free agent.

Last year, he appeared in 12 games for Dallas and totaled 42 tackles and a forced fumble. We had him listed as the No. 33 player in our recently updated Top 50 – Best Available Free Agents list.
