Cardinals Signing QB Blaine Gabbert To One-Year Deal

Adam Schefter reports that the Cardinals are signing veteran QB Blaine Gabbert to a one-year contract on Wednesday.

The Cardinals recently brought Gabbert in for a workout and were reportedly interested in signing him to a contract, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

Gabbert joins Drew Stanton and Zac Dysert on the Cardinals’ roster behind Carson Palmer.

Gabbert, 27, is a former first-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2010. After three years in Jacksonville, he was traded to the 49ers in return for a sixth-round pick back in March of 2014.

Gabbert played out the final year of his two-year, $4 million contract and has been testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent.

In 2016, Gabbert appeared in eight games for the 49ers and threw for 925 yards while completing 56.9 percent of their passes to go along with five touchdowns and six interceptions. Gabbert also rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 34 quarterback out of 34 qualifying players.
