Cardinals Signing RB D.J. Foster Off Patriots’ Practice Squad

Ian Rapoport reports that the Cardinals are signing RB D.J. Foster off of the Patriots’ practice squad on Monday.

This comes after the news that David Johnson is likely to miss an extended period of time with a dislocated wrist.

There was some buzz earlier in the day that Arizona could look to bring back veteran RB Chris Johnson, but it appears as though they preferred to see what Foster could do with the opportunity.

Foster, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Arizona State back in May of last year but was waived to make room for DT Darius Kilgo.

Foster was on and off New England’s practice squad last season. Unfortunately, Foster cut loose coming out of the preseason and later signed to their taxi squad.

In 2016, Foster appeared in three games for the Patriots and rushed for 24 yards on seven carries (3.4 YPC) to go along with one reception for two yards receiving and no touchdowns.
