Cardinals Signing Veteran G Evan Mathis To A One-Year, $6M Deal

Albert Breer of NFL Media is reporting that the Cardinals are signing veteranĀ G Evan Mathis has agreed to a one-year, $6 million deal.

Mathis recently visited with the Cardinals along with a number of other veteran offensive linemen. A report from last night said that Mathis had a two-year offer from the Cardinals, but itĀ looks like they ultimately settled one a one-year pact.

Mathis, 34, is a former third-round pick of the Panthers back in 2005. He wound up traveling around a bit after he was waived by the Bengals, playing for the Dolphins and Bengals before signing on with the Eagles in 2011.

Philadelphia elected to cut Mathis loose in June of last year after being on the trading block for awhile, but he managed to secure a one-year deal with the Broncos before the start of the season.

In 2015, Mathis appeared in all 16 games for the Broncos andĀ was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 3 guard out of 81 qualifying players.
