Cardinals Sticking With Blaine Gabbert As Starting QB

Cardinals HC Bruce Arians announced Monday that Blaine Gabbert will remain the team’s starting quarterback for Week 13’s game against the Rams.

“We’re going to stick with Blaine right now,” Arians said, per Darren Urban.

Arians added that he would be “very, very confident” with Gabbert as their starting quarterback next year if it came to that.

“The way he’s playing, I’d be very, very comfortable,” Arians said, per Josh Weinfuss.

This could be an indication that Arizona is willing to start Gabbert moving forward, even if Drew Stanton is healthy enough to play.

Gabbert, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2010. After three years in Jacksonville, he was traded to the 49ers in return for a sixth-round pick back in March of 2014.

Gabbert played out the final year of his two-year, $4 million contract before eventually signing a one-year, $855,000 contract with the Cardinals this past May.

In 2017, Gabbert has appeared in two games and thrown for 498 yards while completing 61.1 percent of his passes to go along with five touchdowns and three interceptions. He has also rushed for 30 yards.
