ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Cardinals DB Tyrann Mathieu is coming off of the team’s PUP list on Tuesday.

According to Schefter, there is some optimism that Mathieu will play in the team’s season opener.

Mathieu suffered a tore ACL and LCL last December, so he’s over nine months removed from surgery.

It will be interesting to see how the Cardinals approach this situation in the coming weeks as Mathieu was a big-time player for them during his rookie season.

The Cardinals have him listed as a starter on their depth chart, despite the injury and the fact that they used their first-round pick on Deone Bucannon.
