Branden Albert A Potential Free Agent Target For The Cardinals?

Mike Jurecki of Fox Sports 910 Phoenix indicates that Branden Albert could be the No. 1 left tackle available in the free agent market, and a potential option for the Arizona Cardinals.

However, Jurecki adds that Albert’s asking price is likely to dictate whether or not the Cardinals target a left tackle in this year’s NFL Draft.

As things stand right now, Arizona is projected to have less than $3 million in cap available to them, according to Overthecap.com. However, the Cardinals do have some options to increase that figure like restructuring WR Larry Fitzgerald‘s contract and possibly releasing guys like G Daryn Colledge and RB Ryan Williams.

Albert, a University of Virginia product, has spent the past five seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and played the 2013 season under the Chiefs’ franchise tag. Kansas City drafted Eric Fisher No. 1 overall and appear to be unlikely to use their franchise designation on him again in 2014 given that it comes with a 20 percent increase.

Other speculative free agent options for the Cardinals could include: Eugene MonroeJared VeldheerZach Strief and Anthony Collins.

We have all of these players included in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
