The Arizona Cardinals placed DB Eddie Whitley on waivers, according to the NFL transactions release.
This comes after the team signed veteran ILB Darryl Sharpton to a contract, so it’s not all that surprising that a subsequent roster move was made to clear a roster spot.
Whitley, 25, originally signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia Tech back in 2012. He lasted just a few months with the team before he was placed on waivers at the start of the 2012 season.
Whitley later caught on with the 49ers before joining the Eagles and Saints and brief stints. The Cardinals signed him to a two-year contract back in April of last year.
Despite playing for a number of teams since entering the league, Whitley has yet to appear in an NFL game.
