Cardinals Waive P Drew Butler, Promote P Matt Wile & QB Zac Dysert

The Arizona Cardinals announced that they’ve promoted P Matt Wile and QB Zac Dysert to their active roster and waived P Drew Butler.

  • In addition, the Cardinals officially placed S Tyvon Branch (groin), LB Deone Bucannon (ankle), and OT Urlick John (shoulder) on season-ending injured reserve.
  • Arizona also re-signed LB Reshard Cliett to their practice squad.

Dysert, 26, is a former seventh-round pick of the Broncos back in 2013. He was placed on waivers by the Broncos at the start of the 2014 season, but they later added him to their practice squad.

The Bears claimed Dysert off of waivers a few days before the start of the season, but he was among their final roster cuts. After that, Dysert returned to the Texans, but was on and off of their practice squad before later signing on to the Bills’ practice squad.

The Dolphins signed him to a future/reserve contract before later cutting him loose coming out of the preseason. Dysert has been on and off of the Cardinals’ roster this season.

Dysert has yet to appear in an NFL game.

Butler, 27, originally signed on with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia back in 2012. Since then, Butler has played for the Bears and Lions before catching on with the Cardinals as a free agent at the start of the 2014 season.

The Cardinals brought Butler back on an exclusive rights contract but was later waived with an injury settlement. Arizona re-signed him once again back in November, making this another short stint with the team.

In 2016, Butler has appeared in seven games and totaled 1,140 punt yards on 32 attempts and no touchbacks.
