Cardinals Waive RB Kerwynn Williams, Promote TE Hakeem Valles

The Arizona Cardinals announced Thursday that they’ve waived RB Kerwynn Williams and promoted TE Hakeem Valles to their active roster.

Williams, 25, is a former seventh-round pick of the Colts back in 2013. He lasted just a few months in Indianapolis before signing on to the Chargers’ practice squad.

The Cardinals would later sign him to their own practice squad during the 2014 season and he had been on and off of their practice squad since then.

Arizona ultimately elected to cut him loose as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players before re-signing him just a few days ago.

In 2015, Williams appeared in six games and ran for 142 yards on 27 carries (5.3 YPC) to go along with two receptions for 16 yards receiving and one touchdown.

Valles, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Monmouth back in May. He was unfortunately among their roster cuts coming out of the preseason but returned to the team’s practice squad.
