Cardinals Worked Out Six Players Including LBs Josh Keyes & Korey Toomer

According to Howard Balzer, the Arizona Cardinals brought in six free agents for workouts on Tuesday, including LBs Josh Keyes and Korey Toomer.

The full list of tryouts for the Cardinals includes:

  1. LB Jonathan Anderson
  2. WR Daniel Braverman
  3. WR Malachi Dupre
  4. OT Justin Evans
  5. LB Josh Keyes
  6. LB Korey Toomer

Of this group, the Cardinals signed Braverman and Dupre to their practice squad.

Keyes, 25, signed on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Boston College back in 2015. He had a brief stint with the Chiefs before returning to the Buccaneers later on in the season.

After two years in Tampa Bay, Keyes signed on to the Falcons’ practice squad and had a brief stint with the Chargers before he was waived last year and later claimed by the Browns.

Cleveland declined to tender Keyes a qualifying offer, making him an unrestricted free agent and he later signed on with the Texans. However, Houston cut him loose coming out of the preseason.

Keyes had a brief stint with the Redskins in September and re-signed with the Texans a month later. Houston elected to waive him last week.

In 2018, Keyes has appeared in three games and recorded five total tackles.

Toomer, 29, is a former fifth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2012. He spent his rookie season on the Seahawks practice squad before he was waived at the start of the 2014 season and later claimed by the Cowboys.

Toomer has had stints with the Cowboys, Rams, Raiders, and Chargers over the past three years before signing on with the 49ers back in April. Unfortunately, the 49ers elected to release Toomer as they cut their roster down to 53 players.

The Packers signed him shortly after clearing waivers but cut him loose last week.

In 2017, Toomer appeared in 15 games for the Chargers and recorded 48 tackles, one sack, an interception returned for a touchdown, two forced fumbles and three pass defenses.
