Carl Nicks’ 2012 Toe Injury Is For Life

According to an article on JoeBucsFan.com, Tampa Bay Buccaneers guard Carl Nicks is still lingering from a toe injury suffered last season. In fact, he will have to deal with the blow for the rest of his life.

“I will have to deal with it my whole life,” Nicks said to the media. “Honestly, it is not 100 percent, yet. I plan on playing some this next preseason game and obviously, the third one. We will see how it goes.”

“I have all the confidence in the world I will be back to playing… I will just have to deal with it my whole life. I would lie if I told you it didn’t affect me at all. It affects the way I walk, the way I stand around. I have to stand a certain kind of way. It is something I just have to deal with. I don’t want to get into taking painkillers and not knowing if it is hurting.”

Nicks joined the Bucs via free agency a year ago after having spent the rest of his career with the New Orleans Saints. Nicks’ durability was one of the reasons Tampa Bay signed him. Prior to last year, Nicks didn’t start in just 3 games in his then four-year career. All three missed starts were during his rookie campaign.
