Mark Berman of Fox 26 (KRIV) reports that free agent WR Cecil Shorts is visiting with the Texans on Monday.
- John McClain expects the Texans to sign veteran receiver and draft another one within the first two rounds. McClain adds that they’re looking for speedy receivers.
- Mary Kay Cabot reports that free agent WR Cecil Shorts does not have a visit schedule with the Browns at this point in time.
- Michael Gehlken of the Union-Tribune San Diego reported over the weekend that the Chargers have shown interest in Shorts.
It looks like things are beginning to pick up for the remaining free agent receivers now that most of the notable free agents are off the board.
Shorts has come up as a potential option for the Browns, Chargers, Jets, and possibly the Panthers in recent days, but it’s hard to say who could be the favorite at this point in time.
Shorts, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Jaguars, who played out his four-year, $2,672,146 rookie contract that included $443,380 guaranteed, and should be able to secure a raise in the coming weeks.
In 2014, Shorts caught 66 receptions for 777 yards receiving and three touchdowns over the course of 13 games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 98 receiver out of 110 qualifying players.
We have Shorts at No. 56 in our Top 2015 NFL Free Agents List.
