Cedric Benson In Line For An Increased Workload Against The Worst Defense?

Despite a great performance in the second-half of Week 3’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy mentioned that he’s not willing to guarantee that RB Cedric Benson will see increased workload against the Saints this weekend.

“Everything Cedric is doing isn’t really a surprise to anybody,” McCarthy said, via Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. “He’s played at a high level for the last couple of years. As for who gets the ball more, really, the game dictates that.”

It’s really no secret that the Saints are terrible at stopping the run. In fact they actually rank dead last in the league in that category, so it would make sense for the Packers to utilize Benson and effectively attack an obvious weakness. Even if McCarthy isn’t willing to commit to the idea now, Benson still looks like a decent option for fantasy owners this weekend.
