Chad Henne Could Have A Decent Market With Texans, Raiders & Jets As Potential Options

Update:

Ryan O’Halloran reports that the Jaguars are expected to “get contract done” with QB Chad Henne before Saturday.

Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports expects Jaguars’ free agent QB Chad Henne to find a “decent” amount of interest on the open market.

  • Garafolo mentions that the Texans, Raiders and Jets could all be options for Henne in the coming weeks.

Recent reports have indicated that other free agent quarterbacks like Josh McCown and Matt Cassel could also have pretty good markets, so it will be interesting to see how things play out regarding the available backup quarterback options.

Jacksonville has said that they would like to retain Henne, but he will be able to meet with prospective teams this weekend, which means it could be a few weeks before the Jaguars have an idea of what it would take to re-sign him.

Henne, 28, would be a serviceable backup option for the Jaguars, but is clearly not a starter in the league. Last year, Henne threw for 3,241 yards to go along with 13 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

According to Pro Football Focus, he rated as the worst qualifying player at the quarterback position this year.
