Champ Bailey In Line For A Contract Extension?

It seems that the entire league was waiting for the Jets to extend Darrelle Revis‘s contract before extending offers to their own cornerbacks. Charles Woodson signed an extension earlier in the week with the Green Bay Packers and now there is talk the Denver Broncos are looking to do the same with Champ Bailey.

Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that the Broncos and Bailey’s agents are in serious discussions regarding a contract extension for the Pro-Bowl cornerback. The extension is reported to be a four-year extension which is the same as the before mentioned players received.

Broncos G.M. Brian Xanders mentioned that the “we’d rather keep things private,” but also said that “we acknowledge we’re in talks.”

Bailey is currently 32 years old and is being paid $13 million this season. Charles Woodson’s age didn’t scare away the Packers from giving him an extension, so the Broncos may have plans to move Bailey to a safety position if he shows signs of slowing down.
