Chargers Activate CB Jason Verrett From PUP List

The Los Angeles Chargers announced Friday that they’ve officially activated CB Jason Verrett from the PUP list.

Verrett is expected to return to the practice field on Friday.

Verrett, 25, was taken with the No. 25 overall pick back in 2014 by the Chargers. He was in the final year of his four-year, $7.889 million contract and set to make a base salary of $860,000 for the 2017 season when the Chargers picked up his fifth-year option a few months ago.

The fifth-year option will run the Chargers $8,526,000 million for the 2018 season but is guaranteed only for injury and won’t prevent them from working on a long-term extension over the next year.

In 2016, Verrett was limited to appearing in just four games and recorded 13 tackles, one interception and three pass defenses for the Chargers. His year ended after he suffered a torn left ACL and was subsequently placed on season-ending injured reserve.
