Chargers “Actively Scouting” NFL Teams & Open To A Trade, Possibly For A WR?

Kevin Acee of the Unio-Tribune reports that the Chargers are “actively scouting” the rest of the NFL and is open to a trade. However, Acee adds that indications are that the Chargers are unwilling to part with a first or second-day pick to obtain some help.

Acee writes that there is a real concern that the Chargers are overworking their wide receivers and bringing in another wideout could ensure that their offense continues to perform in the second half of the season.

One issue working against the Chargers is the fact that they’re paying 14 players who are currently on injured reserve along with their replacements. This has left San Diego with around $2 million or so in cap space to work with, which means it’s unlikely they could pursue a trade for notable receivers like Torrey Smith or Alshon Jeffery, who have come up in trade rumors over the past week.

With this in mind, Acee suggests reaching out to the Jaguars and Panthers about Marqise Lee and Corey Brown and offer them a third-day pick. Although, Acee considers it unlikely that either deal would get done.

The NFL trade deadline is next Tuesday and all deals will need to be agreed to and submitted to the league office before 4pm EST.

We’ll have more regarding potential trades involving the Chargers as the news is available.
