Chargers Among Handful Of Teams To Contact CB Darrelle Revis

Adam Schefter of ESPN, citing league sources, reports that the Chargers recently reach out to veteran CB Darrelle Revis about playing this season.

According to Schefter, the Chargers are among a handful of teams that have contacted Revis.

A person close to Revis tells Schefter that Revis is still expected to play in 2017, even though there hasn’t been any reported interest in him or visits scheduled.

Revis is reportedly training in Florida and interested in returning to the NFL.

The Chargers, unfortunately, lost CB Jason Verrett for the season, but Schefter says that hey contacted Revis before they placed him on injured reserve.

Revis, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Jets back in 2007. He was entering the third year of his five-year, $70 million contract that includes $39 million guaranteed and was set to make a base salary of $13 million for the 2017 season when he was released by the Jets.

In 2016, Revis appeared in 15 games for the Jets and recorded 53 tackles, one interception, and five pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 66 cornerback out of 112 qualifying players.
