Chargers CB Jason Verrett Has A Torn Labrum, Could Miss 2-3 Weeks

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that Chargers rookie CB Jason Verrett has been diagnosed with a torn labrum and is expected to miss out 2-3 weeks.

  • Rapoport adds that Verrett wants to play through the injury, but he’s expected to consider surgical options after the season.

The Chargers will wait and see if the inflammation goes down in the coming weeks, which explains the tentative 2-3 week timetable.

Rapoport mentions that Buccaneers RB Doug Martin tried to play through a similar injury last year, but he was ultimately placed on season-ending injured reserve.

According to Rapoport, injured reserve is still a possibility for Verrett, depending how he looks in the coming weeks.

Verrett was a surprisingly active for the Week 8’s game against the Broncos, but he wound up re-injuring his shoulder.

So far this season, Verrett has appeared in six games and has recorded 19 tackles, one interception and four passes defended. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 4 cornerback in the league.
