Ian Rapoport reports that Chargers CB Jason Verrett suffered an injury during Friday’s conditioning tests that will “likely” cost him the entire 2018 season.

  • Adam Schefter added that the Chargers are concerned Verrett tore his Achilles during a run and is undergoing tests to determine its severity.

This is terrible news for Los Angeles and Verrett, who missed all of last season due to a knee injury. The cornerback also sustained a season-ending torn ACL in 2016.

Verrett, 27, was taken with the No. 25 overall pick back in 2014 by the Chargers. He finished his four-year rookie contract and is playing out this season under the fifth-year option, which will make him $8,526,000.

In 2016, Verrett appeared in four games and recorded 13 tackles, one interception and three pass defenses for the Chargers. His year ended after he suffered a torn left ACL and was subsequently placed on season-ending injured reserve.
