Chargers DE Joey Bosa Could Be Sidelined Until October

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Chargers DE Joey Bosa is expected to sideline him into October due to a bruised bone in his left foot.

Bosa was initially given a timetable of a few weeks for this injury, but sources tell Schefter that the issue is expected to keep Bosa out longer than the initial timeline.

Depending on whether the swelling in Bosa’s foot goes down and his foot stabilizes, surgery could be an option for him.

As of now, Bosa is rehabbing his foot.

Bosa actually suffered a different foot injury back on Aug. 7, which forced him to miss the entire the preseason, but unfortunately sustained a different injury to the same foot on Wednesday.

Bosa, 23, is a former first-round pick of the Chargers back in 2016. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $25.8 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $630,000 and $720,000 over the final two years of the agreement.

The Chargers have a fifth-year to pick up regarding Bosa next year.

In 2017, Bosa appeared in all 16 games for the Chargers and recorded 70 tackles, 12.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, a recovery and a pass defense.

We’ll have more regarding Bosa as the news is available.
