Chargers DE Joey Bosa Says He’s Likely Out At Least Until Week 9

On Wednesday, Chargers DE Joey Bosa told reporters that he likely will be out at least until his team’s bye, which is Week 8, per Eric Williams.

Bosa added that he got the cast off his foot this week and is now in a protective boot. However, Bosa is still dealing with instability in the tendon of his bruised left foot.

Over the weekend, Adam Schefter reported that Bosa is still not expected back until sometime next month.

Bosa is specifically dealing with a bruised bone in his left foot that was expected to keep him out of the lineup for the next few weeks, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

Bosa actually suffered a different foot injury back on Aug. 7, which forced him to miss the entire the preseason, but unfortunately sustained a different injury to the same foot a few weeks ago.

Bosa, 23, is a former first-round pick of the Chargers back in 2016. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $25.8 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $630,000 and $720,000 over the final two years of the agreement.

The Chargers have a fifth-year to pick up regarding Bosa next year.

In 2017, Bosa appeared in all 16 games for the Chargers and recorded 70 tackles, 12.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, a recovery and a pass defense.

We’ll have more regarding Bosa as the news is available.
