Yesterday, Michael Gehlken on the Union-Tribune reported that the Chargers are known to have “serious interest” in Broncos OL Orlando Franklin.

According to Gehlken, San Diego has flirted with the idea of moving RT D.J. Fluker inside, and adding Franklin would allow them to do so given that he has played both tackle and guard in recent years.

However, there will likely be some serious interest in Franklin as Jeff McLane reports that the Eagles are “definitely involved” in the bidding for his services.

Last week, Metro New York reported that the Jets are expected to be in running for a number of free agent guards including Franklin, Clint Boling and James Carpenter.

Franklin, 27, is a former second-round pick of the Broncos. He finished playing out his four-year, $4,356,000 rookie contract that included $1,668,000 guaranteed and is in position to be one of the more interesting offensive free agents in the coming weeks.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 13 guard out of 78 qualifying players last year. We have Franklin listed as the No. 19 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
