Chargers Have Established A Price Limit For Pursuing Mario Williams

Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports the Chargers have “assigned an (unknown) price they would be willing to pay” soon-to-be free agent DE Mario Williams.

Acee adds that it’s “practically a given” Williams will be playing elsewhere next season.

San Diego needs a pass rusher about as bad as anyone but their financial constraints will most likely cost them WR Vincent Jackson so it’s hard to see them landing Williams considering that he could be in line for a record deal at a premium position.

In other news related to Williams, ESPN’s Adam Schefter getting the “sense” that the New England Patriots are not going to be in on Williams despite the previous rumors.

NFL.com’s Michael Lombardi echoes Schefter’s belief.

Other speculative options should include the Bills, Jaguars, Seahawks and Buccaneers.
