Chargers HC Norv Turner Expects Big Things From RB Ryan Mathews

Head coach Norv Turner mentioned that he still expects RB Ryan Mathewsto be one of the league’s leading rushers”, per Ryan Schuler of Chargers.com.

Everything I’ve said about him in the offseason, everytime he’s had adversity, he’s come back stronger,” said Turner. “People want to count him out or say, ‘Hey, you can’t count on this guy,’ but he’s come back stronger. Ryan was outstanding”.

Mathews said that he “felt better” than he did last year. He wound up having his best game of the season against a Saints defense that is ranked near the bottom of the NFL. The Chargers probably continue to work Jackie Battle and Ronnie Brown in their gameplan, but it’s pretty clear that Mathews is their best offensive weapon at this point.
