Chargers HC Job More Appealing To Bruce Arians With Tom Telesco In Place As GM

According to Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, the Chargers head coaching job is more attractive now that the organization has hired former Colts VP of football operations Tom Telesco as their new GM, per Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star.

“I would be now that Tommy’s there,’’ Arians said when asked if he was interested in the Chargers. “I think so much of (the) success that teams have are great relationships between the general manager and head coach. And it’s not who has control of the roster. It’s how do we get the best players?

It’s obvious why Arians is interested in the Chargers job as he’s familiar with Telesco and his philosophy towards building a roster. Philip Rivers should also make the job more appealing given that he has had success in the past and head coaching jobs rarely come with even a decent quarterback on their roster.

Rarely do we ever see interim head coaches be as successful as Arians was in place of Chuck Pagano. Now that Telesco is in charge of finding a new head coach for the Chargers, it would seem likely that Arians is at the top of his list.

Arians is also candidate for head coaching vacancies with the Browns, Eagles, and Bears. The Chargers reportedly considering 49ers OC Greg Roman, Ken Whisenhunt, Lovie Smith, Mike Holmgren and Bengals DC Mike Zimmer.
