Chargers ILB Denzel Perryman Undergoing Ankle Surgery, Out At Least Two Months

According to Eric D. Williams of ESPN, Chargers ILB Denzel Perryman is scheduled to undergo ankle surgery on Tuesday and will be out “at least” two months.

Perryman sustained an ankle injury during last week’s preseason opener.

Ian Rapoport reported yesterday that Perryman will miss at least four games with his injury and is a “strong candidate” to start the season on the injured reserve and should be an option for the team’s designation to return.

Perryman, 23 is a former second-round pick of the Chargers back in 2015. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $4.776 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $615,000 and $705,000 over the final two years of the agreement.

In 2016, Perryman appeared in 12 games and recorded 72 tackles, two sacks, an interception and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 43 linebacker out of 86 qualifying players.
