Chargers ILB Manti Te’o Out For Season With Torn Achilles

Update:

Dan Graziano of ESPN has confirmed that Chargers LB Manti Te’o does, in fact, have a torn Achilles that will require surgery.

Te’o’s 2016 season is over and the Chargers will likely place him on injured reserve at some point in the near future.

Michael Gehlken of the Union-Tribune reports that Chargers LB Manti Te’o is believed to have sustained a torn Achilles tendon and will miss the remainder of the season.

Te’o still has an MRI scheduled for Monday, but he said he felt a pop in his left Achilles, which implies it could be serious.

“It was just a big, big year for me,” Te’o said. “I worked extremely hard to give myself a chance. Freak accidents like this, you can’t predict stuff like that. It’s all about moving forward.”

Chargers ILB Manti Te’o was carted off to the locker room during Sunday’s game against the Colts.

The Chargers later announced that Te’o has an Achilles’ injury and is out for the game.

It’s obviously concerning how quick the Chargers ruled him announced that he was done with an Achilles injury.

Te’o, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Chargers back in 2013. He’s currently in the final year of his our-year, $5.172 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $1,110,330 for the 2016 season.

Entering today’s game, Te’o has recorded 14 tackles for the Chargers over the course of two games.

We’ll have more regarding Te’o’s injury as the news is available.
