Chargers LT Jared Gaither Out Indefinitely, Will Start Undrafted Rookie Mike Harris

Derek Togerson from NBC San Diego reports that the Chargers have named Mike Harris there starting left tackle against the Raiders.

Harris, an undrafted rookie from UCLA, is filling in for LT Jared Gaither who has been absent since July and is out indefinitely with back issues.  Harris will have the task of protecting franchise QB’s Philip Rivers blind side, with the added pressure of facing one of the most aggressive defensive lines in Week 1.

Harris did not have any shining moments in preseason, but looked solid at times. Hopefully Gaither will progress and they won’t have to continue the experiment much longer.
