Chargers Not Ruling Out A Return From OLB Melvin Ingram This Season

The San Diego Chargers haven’t ruled out OLB Melvin Ingram returning at some point this season, according to the Union-Tribune San Diego.

Ingram suffered a torn ACL last week and is expected to undergo surgery on Tuesday. The injury will require “minimum of six months to heal,” according Michael Gehlken, so the earliest he could be back is late November.

San Diego wasted no time in signing Dwight Freeney to a two-year contract, as well as OLB Thomas Keiser.

While it would be great to have Ingram at some point this season, you have to wonder whether or not it’s a smart move to rush their 2012 first-round pick back at point in the season when the remaining games could be meaningless.
