Chargers OC Ken Whisenhunt Interviewing For Georgia Tech Job

Adam Schefter, citing league sources, reports that Chargers OC Ken Whisenhunt is scheduled to interview for the Georgia Tech coaching job this weekend.

Schefter mentions that Whisenhunt attended Georgia Tech and the school would like to hire someone with NFL experience that is also connected to the school.

This comes after a report from Wednesday mentioned that Whisenhunt is a “top candidate for the Georgia Tech job.

Whisenhunt, 56, began his NFL coaching career with the Ravens back in 1997 as their tight ends coach. He had brief stints with the Browns and Jets before being hired by the Steelers in 2001.

After working his way to offensive coordinator, Whisenhunt departed for the Cardinals’ head-coaching job in 2007 and actually led them to a Super Bowl before he was fired after the 2012 season.

Whisenhunt spent one year with the Chargers before he once again landed a head-coaching job, this time with the Titans. Unfortunately, it was a short stay for him in Tennessee as he was fired after two years and later returned as the Chargers’ offensive coordinator in 2016.

In 2018, Whisenhunt’s Chargers offense ranks No. 6 in total yards, No. 7 in points scored, No. 8 in rushing yards and No. 10 in passing yards.
