Dianna Marie Russini first reported that the Chargers were signing WR Stevie Johnson to a contract.

  • Rand Getlin reports that Johnson receives a three-year contract from San Diego.

Reports from Monday night had said that Johnson was deciding between the Patriots and Chargers, even though the Jets had shown interest in him.

Johnson, 28, was released by the 49ers in a move that freed up $6,025,000 in available cap space for San Francisco.

In 2014, Johnson appeared in 13 games and caught 35 passes for 435 yards receiving and three touchdowns for the 49ers. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 22 receiver out of 110 qualifying players, which is pretty good considering that he only played 305 snaps.
