Chargers Pick Up OL D.J. Fluker’s Fifth-Year Option

Albert Breer of NFL Media reports that the Chargers have exercised their fifth-year option for 2017 on OL D.J. Fluker.

The fifth-year option will run the Chargers $8.8 million in 2017, but is guaranteed only for injury and won’t prevent them from working on a long-term extension over the next year.

Fluker, 25, was taken with the No. 11 overall pick back in 2013. He’s in the final year of his four-year, $11.4 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $1,959,885 for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Fluker appeared in 12 games for the Chargers and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 67 guard out of 81 qualifying players.
