Chargers Place DT Corey Liuget On Injured Reserve, Claim DT T.Y. McGill

The Los Angeles Chargers announced that they have officially placed DT Corey Liuget on injured reserve and claimed DT T.Y. McGill off waivers from the Eagles to fill his roster spot.

Liuget missed the first four games of the season, due to a suspension for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drugs policy. He sustained a right knee injury during Week 11 and was unable to return.

Liuget, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Chargers back in 2011. He’s currently in the fourth year of his six-year, $58.219 million contract that included $30.477 million guaranteed and set to make base salaries of $8 million and $7.5 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2018, Liuget appeared in five games for the Chargers and recorded 14 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble for the Chargers.

McGill, 25, originally signed on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina State back in 2015. He lasted just a few months in Seattle before he was claimed off of waivers by the Colts.

McGill had had brief stints with the Browns, and Chiefs before the Chargers waived him last month and he was later claimed by the Eagles. Philadelphia waived him the following day with a failed physical designation earlier this month only to bring him back a few weeks ago.

The Eagles waived him, once again, on Tuesday.

In 2018, McGill has appeared in two games and recorded three tackles and no sacks.
