Chargers Place OLB Jerry Attaochu On I.R. & Promote NT Ryan Carrethers

The San Diego Chargers announced Saturday that they’ve promoted NT Ryan Carrethers to their active roster and placed OLB Jerry Attaochu (broken foot) on injured reserve.

Attaochu, 23, was taken in the second round of the 2014 draft by the Chargers. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $4,203,100 contract and stands to make base salaries of $802,100 and $993,150 over the next two years.

In 2016, Attaochu appeared in eight games for the Chargers and recorded 11 tackles, two sacks and no interceptions.

Carrethers, 25, is a former fifth-round pick by the Chargers in the 2014 NFL Draft. He’s in the third year of a four-year, $2,398,532 rookie contract that included a $178,532 signing bonus and set to make a base salary of $600,000 this season.

San Diego decided to waive him back in October but signed him to their practice squad once he cleared waivers.

In 2015, Carrethers appeared in 14 games for the Chargers and recorded 23 total tackles and no other statistics.
