Chargers Place OLB Melvin Ingram On Short-Term I.R.

The San Diego Chargers announced Saturday that they have placed OLBĀ Melvin Ingram on injured reserve with the designation to return, due to a hip injury.

San Diego was expected to be without Ingram for Week 3’s game, but it appears the injury was server enough that they were forced to consider holding him out for a few weeks.

Ingram, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Chargers, who wound up missing 12 games last season due to an ACL injury. He’s currently in the third year of his rookie contract and will make a base salary ofĀ $1,153,476 this season and another $785,214 in 2015.
