The Los Angeles Chargers announced Monday that they’ve promoted RB Justin Jackson to their active roster and waived RB Detrez Newsome.
Jackson, 23, is a seventh-round pick by the Chargers out of Northwestern in the 2018 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year, $2,529,070 rookie contract and was set to earn a base salary of $480,000 when the Chargers waived him coming out of the preseason.
Jackson returned to the team’s practice squad.
During his four-year college career, Jackson recorded 1,142 rushing attempts for 5,440 yards (4.8 YPC) and 41 touchdowns to go along with 122 receptions for 858 yards receiving (7.0 YPC) and one touchdown.
