Chargers RB Andre Williams Out For Season With Wrist Injury

Chargers HC Anthony Lynn announced Monday that RB Andre Williams needs surgery on his wrist and will subsequently miss the remainder of the 2017 season, per Jack Wang.

You can expect the Chargers to place him on injured reserve in the coming days and add someone to their roster.

Williams, 25, is a former fourth-round pick by the Giants of the 2014 NFL Draft. He was in the third year a four-year, $2,673,600 rookie contract and set to earn a base salary of $600,000 for 2016 when the Giants cut him loose coming out of the preseason.

Williams wound up being claimed off of waivers from by the Chargers. He returned to Los Angeles on an exclusive rights this offseason, but was cut loose at the start of the regular season.

The Chargers added him to their practice squad soon after and eventually called him up to their active roster.

In 2017, Williams has appeared in eight games for the Chargers and rushed for 25 yards on nine carries and no touchdowns.
