Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Times-Union reports that Chargers RB Melvin Gordon underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair a left-knee injury.
The Chargers placed Gordon on the season-ending injured reserve two weeks ago after aggravating his knee during Week 15.
Despite his draft status, Gordon couldn’t manage to get anything going for the Chargers in his rookie season. In fact, he seemed like a bad fit for their offensive system.
Gordon, 22, is in the first year of his fully guaranteed four-year, $10.669 million rookie contract. He’ll make a base salary of $435,000 this season to go along with $919,989 in 2016.
Gordon’s rookie year ends with him appearing in 14 games and rushing for 641 yards on 184 carries (3.5 YPC) to go along with 33 receptions for 192 yards receiving, no touchdowns and four fumbles lost.
Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 62 running back out of 67 qualifying players on their end of the year ratings.
