Chargers Re-Sign RFA LB Korey Toomer

The Los Angeles Chargers officially re-signed restricted free agent LB Korey Toomer on Tuesday.

The original-round tender will cost the Chargers around $1.797 million for the 2017 season.

Toomer, 28, is a former fifth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2012. He spent his rookie season on the Seahawks practice squad before he was waived at the start of the 2014 season and later claimed by the Cowboys.

After a stint with the Rams, Toomer signed on to the Raiders practice squad back in October of last year. He returned to the Raiders on an exclusive rights contract this last April but was once again among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason.

The Chargers signed Toomer offer off of the Raiders’ practice squad a few weeks into the 2016 season.

In 2016, Toomer appeared in 13 games for the Chargers and recorded 75 tackles, one sack, three forced fumbles, a recovery and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 24 linebacker out of 87 qualifying players.
