Chargers Re-Sign CB Pierre Desir, Place DT Caraun Reid On Injured Reserve

The San Diego Chargers announced Tuesday that they’ve officially re-signed CB Pierre Desir and placed DT Caraun Reid on injured reserve with a torn ACL.

Desir, 26, is a former fourth-round pick of the Browns back in 2014. He’s in the third year of his four-year, $2.63 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $600,000 for the 2016 season.

The Browns waived him coming out of the preseason and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Chargers. San Diego waived him this past weekend to make room for LB Chris Landrum.

In 2016, Desir appeared in four games for the Chargers and recorded three  tackles, no interceptions and a pass defense.

Reid, 24, is a former fifth-round pick of the Lions back in 2014. He lasted just over two years in Detroit before he was waived coming out of the preseason and later claimed off of waivers by the Chargers.

Reid is in the third year of his four-year, $2.4 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $600,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2016, Reid has appeared in seven games for the Chargers and recorded five tackles, one sack, a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 70 interior defender out of 119 qualifying players.
