Chargers Re-Sign TE Antonio Gates To A Two-Year, $12M Deal

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Chargers are re-signing veteran TE Antonio Gates.

  • Rand Getlin reports that the Chargers are signing Gates to a two-year, $12 million deal.

All indications have been that Gates was likely to return to the Chargers and finish out his career in San Diego, so this isn’t a huge surprise.

Gates, 36, was set to be an unrestricted free agent next week after completing a five-year, $36.1 million deal that he signed in 2010.

In 2015, Gates appeared in 11 games, accumulating 56 receptions for 630 yards and five touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 7 tight end out of 67 qualifying players.
