Chargers Cut Roster Down 53 Players

The San Diego Chargers have announced several roster moves on Saturday in order to get their roster down to 53 players.

Here’s the list of players that have either been released or placed on waivers:

San Diego also placed TE Antonio Gates and G Craig Watts on the reserve/suspended list.

Novak, 34, signed a four-year, $6.6 million deal back in 2013 and was set to make a base salary of $1.4 million this season. Once considered one of the better kickers in the league, Novak appeared to take a dip in 2014 after finishing the season ranked as the No. 56 kicker out of 57 possible qualifiers, according to Pro Football Focus.

According to Over The Cap, Novak’s release creates $750,000 in dead money, while generating $1,050,000 in available cap space.
