Chargers Restructure LT King Dunlap’s Contract

Michael Gehlken of the Union Tribune reports that the Chargers restructured LT King Dunlap’s last Wednesday.

  • Jason Fitzgerald first pointed out that Dunlap’s contract appeared to have been reworked.

According to Gehlken, the Chargers decreased his salary from $4.5 to $3.3 million fully guaranteed. However, Dunlap can  recoup the $1.2 million in incentives and roster bonuses.

In total, Dunlap can make up extra $1.7 million this year and $5 million total.

Dunlap was scheduled to have his $4.5 million salary become fully guaranteed on Friday, so the team elected to make this move.

Dunlap, 30, wound up signing four-year, $28 million contract that includes $13 million guaranteed with the Chargers in February of last yaer. He was set to make a base salary of $4.5 million in 2016 to go along with $500,000 in per-game roster bonuses.

In 2015, Dunlap appeared in seven games for the Chargers, and was limited to playing 309 total snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.
