Chargers Rookie CB Jason Verrett Could Miss “Significant Time”

Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports is reporting that there is a “fear” that Chargers rookie CB Jason Verrett‘s shoulder injury got worse by playing in Thursday’s game.

According to Garafolo, Verrett could end up missing “significant time.” However, he will undergo further testing today to determine the severity of the injury. It’s worth mentioning that Verrett had his arm in a sling after the game, which was a good indication that he re-injured his shoulder.

  • Garafolo mentions that it’s “shocking” that Verrett even played in the game.

Verrett, 23, left the game during the first half and came out of the locker room in street clothes. It was a surprise that he was active for Thursday’s game, but it was obviously a big match up for San Diego. Although, they could now be without, arguably, their best cornerback for the foreseeable future.

Over the course of six games, Verrett has recorded 19 tackles, one interception and four passes defended. Pro Football Focus has Verrett rated as the No. 4 cornerback in the league this season.
